THE CHOICE IS OURS

In the "New Covenant" made by our Creator God with humanity, as reported in Jeremiah 31:31-34, every human being can know God from within - because the Holy Spirit is revealing our Creator to all who are willing to know the Lord and trust in Him. We can still help each other along the way; so may you be pleased to find here a variety of helps to the life of faith in God through Jesus Christ. G.S.

THE CHOICE IS OURS

“Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-29)

We live in a world gone wrong, one that was created perfect but now suffers the ravages of sin: death, violated relationships, children born with disabilities, deformities, disease, man's inhumanity to man, moral failures, tragedies of major proportions, chaos.  To all evidence, the world is not as our Creator God intended for it and for us. Humanity is caught in the throes of a mess. It is indeed a broken world. It is one thing to shake our head at the mess of the world. It is another to confront the reality of it in our own lives.

When we stand in the middle of a life storm, it seems as if the storm has become our way of life.  We cannot see a way out.  We are unable to chart a course back to smoother waters.  We feel defeated and broken.  Will that brokenness produce in us the cynic that looks to others for the "blame"? Will we sink into the negativity that threatens to keep us thinking "if only".  Will we allow desperation to overwhelm us and tempt us to make a premature "exit" from this life? Will I insist on trying to find a solution by myself?

Rather, will we, will I, yield up that brokenness to the resources of One who calms the winds and the waves, heals the broken-hearted, and forgives the most grievous of sins?  THE CHOICE IS OURS. There is no evidence that our Creator God has thrown up his hands, or become disappointed and depressed, or given up on humanity. On the contrary, God's response to humanity's original rebellion was to promise a solution, a saviour, a redeemer. THE CHOICE IS OURS.

Even good human parents don't despair of their wayward children, but continue to love them, to manifest confidence in them, to pray for them, and hold them peacefully before God who wants to "find the lost" and who ever seeks them out. God our Father is the perfect parent who ever shows confidence in us and patiently waits for us to realize our poverty and to turn to Him with humble and repentant hearts in our failure and sin, and to turn to Him in humble confidence and hopeful anticipation in our various situations of need.... THE CHOICE IS OURS.

"Lord, help me this day to trade in my hurting heart for a heart full of wholeness and joy.  Bless me, as I too bless another.  Amen."
